Today should have seen the lifting of all remaining pandemic restrictions, but a rise in cases saw the government scale back the planned reopening.

After being closed since March 2020, nightclubs and late bars can now reopen, though vaccine passes will continue to be enforced.

On Tuesday the government announced that live venues could operate with seating only. Following a backlash from the sector, such venues can now have 1,500 standing with 100% seating.

Pubs and restaurants can now take multiple table bookings. 10 adults are allowed per table and can be accompanied by five people aged under 18. A distance of one metre between tables should be in place. The previous time limit of 105 minutes has been scrapped.

Orders can now be made at the bar once social distancing is adhered to, but patrons must immediately return to their table after placing their order.

Funerals, weddings and other religious ceremonies will no longer be subject to capacity limits. Live entertainment and dancing is now permitted at wedding receptions, along with a sit-down only meal.

Outdoor sports venue can now return to full capacity.
