Denise Welch is to star in an adaption of a best selling novel by Graham Norton.

The Waterloo Road star is to feature in a six part series, Forever Home, which will based on the thriller movie of the same name, and is set in a small Irish town and follows Carol Crottie, a divorced woman living with her new partner, who discovers a long dead body hidden in the basement of their home, before realising that she is living with a killer.

The series, which has been commissioned by Channel 5, will see Loose Women panel member Welch feature as part of a star studded cast, including Emmerdale star Lewis Cope, and Heartstopper star Jenny Walser. Other names include The Marlow Murder Club actress Samantha Bond, as well as Downton Abbey's Amy Nutell, The Revenge Club's Douglas Henshall, as well as Inspector Morse's Kevin Whately, Invasion star Shane Zaza and Waterloo Road actor James Baxter.

"In writing Forever Home, I was initially inspired by the simple idea of packing up a home later in life, and the 'what if’ scenarios and complexities that come with later-life relationships", Norton said of the series. "The novel soon evolved into a funny, twisted ‘dark-romp’ full of farcical scenes and it’s wonderful to see the depth and richness of Carol’s story realised as a screenplay".

Elsewhere, FilmNation TV UK creative director Kirstie McDonald added: "From the moment I read the always hilarious Graham Norton’s brilliant novel, I knew I wanted to bring Forever Home to the screen".

"It’s a story full of twists and turns, secrets, and emotional depth that we can’t wait to bring to life for 5 audiences".

Forever Home will be written by executive producer, Clara Salaman, with Graham Norton also serving as an executive producer.

The series is to air on Channel 5 later this year.

In other news, Graham Norton who is renowned for hosting his popular talkshow, The Graham Norton Show, has agreed to host the show for at least another three years.

"Getting to host my own chat show is a huge pleasure as well as a privilege", Cork native Norton said at the time. "I’m thrilled that the BBC are allowing me to continue for another three years. The whole team is looking forward to bringing the world’s brightest stars into the homes of the great British public!".

Having first launched in 2007, it was reported in the BBC that the show has averaged 2.9 million viewers per episode. More on this story here.
